Clear answers to the questions people commonly have before visiting an Assyrian Church of the East service.

Do I need to be Assyrian?

No. People of every cultural background are welcome to attend respectfully and learn about the Christian faith.

Is the service in English?

Yes. Saints Peter & Paul is an English-speaking parish. Some ancient liturgical words and chants may also be heard.

What should I wear?

Wear modest clothing suitable for worship. Formal dress is not required. Women cover their heads during worship and are encouraged to bring a simple scarf; men pray with their heads uncovered.

May I receive Holy Communion?

Visitors should not receive Holy Communion without first speaking with the parish priest.

Will I know what to do?

You are not expected to know the prayers or movements. Follow the congregation if comfortable, or observe quietly.

Can I speak with the priest?

Yes. Contact the parish office to arrange a conversation with Reverend Father Neil Makko.
